The United Nations As International Political Institution

Since the start of 21st century United Nations and its core purposes has been debating  whenever its purpose to establish seems argue-able.  The main element to think about United Nation that is being presented over here is structural realities of international politics. (Köchler, 2006)

The United Nations

Every state have its own reservations about politics and no one should allow to breach it but when question comes at UN, it remains unanswered. For examples, Dr. Ryan who is scholar of 21st century and clearly explore role of United Nations that affects international political system.  According to him, international politics and World political system has continued to struggle in presence of all odds at society. Further, affect of Cold War was still happened at political level. (Ryan, 2000)

The same organizations that has gained popularity that was clear before cold war, is facing questions from political thinkers after cold war. Ironically, it seems impossible that same political organization can be so transformed after cold war. Some loopholes are UN-sponsored Gulf war, question of Bosnia, Somalia and even Rwanda conflicts.  These are some political weakness that has created negative elements about itself in worst form. Furthermore, International rule of law in contemporary world is not administrating by United Nations adequately. (Köchler, 2006)

This bipolar world needs some changes to counter international political essence that UN is almost fails to provide. UN stuck between power and law and their extreme contradictory reviews by different elements of society is further endorsing this argument. The implementation of charter that was developed in 1945 is not being full filled by today’ international law. Post-cold war environment is entirely against UN and has created may mindsets that begin to think negatively about it. United Nations and its decision-making pillar is about to collapse and there is strong need of new decision-making processes. (Ryan, 2000)

This remains an irony between authority of member states and power of security council, veto rights. Sometimes, it seems that international community is paying against power of Security Council in form of political sovereignty. The debate between power and law that is being compromised by United Nations cannot end at least that time when a new decision-making process would  introduce. (Köchler, 2006)

Sovereign Equality of member states of United Nations is not being monitored itself by Security council that has agreed till starts of Cold war. In the end, one can say that imbalance between power and law, extreme condition of balance of power and decayed system of decision-making at UN is glaring challenges and these should tackle with entire new decision-making processes in United Nations. (Ryan, 2000)
